Karl Palda Art Deco Fluorescent Glass Vase
Step into the glamour of the Art Deco era with this impressive large cylindrical vase, attributed to Karl Palda and originating from Bohemia.
Hand-crafted from heavy quality glass, the vase has a strong, perfectly cylindrical form. The interior is fired with a fluorescent yellow surface coating, while the exterior is richly decorated with ruby and black enamel in a striking composition of circles, sweeping curves, angular panels and finely drawn linear details.
The design changes as the vase is turned, revealing a continuous arrangement of geometric motifs around the entire body. The strong contrast between the ruby and black enamelwork and the luminous yellow ground gives the piece a powerful architectural presence, characteristic of the celebrated Karl Palda style.
Under UV light, the vase reveals a brilliant green fluorescence, adding a dramatic hidden quality to an already highly decorative piece. The glass is non-radioactive and safe for display and enjoyment.
